Legal framework and timeline
Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 on artificial intelligence sets transparency obligations in its Article 50. These obligations have applied since 2 August 2026, with a short grace period until 2 December 2026 for marking content already in circulation. They apply, depending on the case, to the provider that designs the system and to the deployer that uses it. As a reseller, MEO Safety makes sure to inform its customers clearly; the provider of the robots' AI features is the manufacturer.
Images and illustrations
Product photographs are supplied by the manufacturer and show the devices actually sold; the unit delivered may differ slightly in appearance. Illustrations of domestic scenes and some share cards are AI-generated then reviewed by a human. They are identified as such and do not depict any real recording made by a robot, in line with the obligation to mark synthetic content.
Site copy
Commercial and legal copy is written, reviewed and validated by a human. Writing-assistance tools may be used; editorial responsibility remains entirely with the publisher.
Built-in conversational assistant
Several EBO robots include a conversational assistant supplied by the manufacturer and based on third-party models. When an AI system interacts directly with a person, that person must be told they are addressing an artificial intelligence, unless it is obvious. The assistant's answers can be wrong and do not replace a doctor, an emergency service or a professional. MEO Safety does not exploit these conversations and has no access to them.
Face recognition, emotion recognition and biometric categorisation
The EBO Max and EBO X models recognise faces, and some features may amount to emotion recognition or biometric categorisation. When such a system is used, the people exposed to it must be informed, in addition to the GDPR rules on biometric data. By activating these features at home, you become the deployer of the system and take on that duty to inform your household and your visitors. Emotion recognition is moreover prohibited in the workplace: do not use it to monitor a cleaner or any other domestic staff.
Roles and responsibilities
The manufacturer designs and supplies the robots' AI features. You are the user, and the deployer when you activate them at home. MEO Safety is the reseller: it is neither the provider nor the deployer of these AI systems, but it informs you of their presence and of your obligations.
